Short post to highlight some exciting days ‘training’ I’ll be going to. I will write up what happened, and the new things I’ve picked up from the courses.
First is this Digital 20/20 event Tuesday 24th March 2009. This is the focus of the event (taken from their site):
Digital 20/20 presents its first ever Sand-Pit event.Forget the media scares about Facebook causing cancer and Twitter rotting our brains. There are thousands of people out there who are using the latest web applications for educational purposes.
And they are finding that, very often, their students respond better to the use of tools they are familiar with in their everyday lives than they do to traditional teaching methods.
Digital 20/20 is running a Web 2.0 for Teaching & Learning Sand-Pit, giving Yorkshire and Humber-based teachers and lecturers the opportunity to get intensive hands-on experience of how some of the latest web technologies can be used to improve learner commitment and outcomes.
This is being run by Jane Hart and Josie Fraser, two of the country’s foremost exponents of Web 2.0 for learning. Can’t wait for that!
Second one: Web 2.0 Workshop, is on Wednesday April 1st (funny I know) this one covers being shown how free tools available can help make your website more modern and more productive. This looks to be in interesting day too. This is being run by Anna Farmery whos blog is ranked in the Top 150 marketing blogs in the world and her podcast has been nominated for the last 2 years as the Best Business podcast. [still trying to nab tickets though for that one]
Please let me know if you have any questions or anything that you’d like me to discuss / explore!

These look really interesting. I really want to attend these sort of events, so I’m going to have to schedule time in advance to do them. How do you find out about them well in advance?
Looking forward to seeing you, I know what you mean about the 1st, mind you I make a good fool!
@Mike, I am trying to find out abut events, I usually only come across them by accident at the moment, I’m not sure if there is a site that lists them all. I wish there was. I have to book off work but fortunately they are great about this and can see the bigger picture.
@Anna, I’m still not booked though, waiting to hear back, I sent in an email. I really hope we can catch up there, your stuff looks really interesting and I’m so keen to get more of this information.
