A Perverse Library
“One night, a colleague — a professor
of modern literature and theory — came to my house for the first time. Drifting
away from the conversation, he stood for a long time in front of the bookshelves
that line one of the walls, silently shaking his head. He finally announced:
"This is a very perverse library." I wasn't sure at first if he was referring to
the collection, or to its organization. Either way, I was pleased and took it as
a compliment. I smiled and thanked him. "Very perverse!" he corrected
(apparently I was not to take it as a compliment).” – Craig Dworkin
For the three day symposium in York entitled Writing Encounters (curated by Claire MacDonald and Claire Hind), a selection of titles from Craig Dworkin’s perverse library will be on display. The library will be co-ordinated by the literary perverts Simon Morris & Nick Thurston.
